Season for Art Festivals in Cambodia

With the end of the monsoons comes one of the most exciting periods in Cambodia. Besides the obvious return to the beach and the trekking adventures that high season and good weather allow, is also the beginning of a couple of months when many cultural activities and art events happen all over the country.

Here are some ideas if you want to enjoy some of the festivals in Cambodia!

Kampot Writer's FestivalFrom 3 to 7 of November, the lovely town of Kampot will receive the Kampot Writers and Readers Festival. After the success of last year edition, and with a partnership with the famous Ubud’s Writers Festival, this year’s program is filled with some juicy stories for you, not only by writers and poets but from a wide selection of artists, from music to performances, photography to food. Prepare yourself for a range of activities happening in different venues along this quiet river town: discussions and conversations, poetry readings, music concerts, cooking classes and gourmet lunches, children’s events, architecture and art exhibitions, book launches and book swaps, guided tours and workshops. Book your bus to Kampot today!

Phnom Penh International Film Festival

From 7 to 17 of November is time for returning to Phnom Penh for this year edition of PPIFF. Roam around the three venues of Flicks Community Movie Houses for a showcase of new feature films, documentaries and shorts from over 30 different countries around the world. Best time to be in Cambodia’s capital for all the cinema lovers out there!

Angkor Photo Festival

For photography lovers, the beginning of the next month is time to travel to Siem Reap for the longest-running photography event in all South East Asia: the Angkor Photo Festival. Prepare yourself for exhibitions of the work of 130 photographers from 45 different countries, workshops with top photographers (e.g. Antoine D’Agata from the famous agency Magnum), conversations and portfolio feedback from professional photographers. All free events and open to the general public, what a great opportunity to improve your visual storytelling skills and make more use of the camera to show your travels to your family and friends!
