Sihanoukville

Named after the former king Norodom Sihanouk, Sihanoukville is the capital of Sihanoukville province. The coastal city is located at the tip of an elevated peninsula in the country’s south-west at the Gulf of Thailand. The city is surrounded by beaches making it a sea-side destination for tourists. The city is having an old infrastructure, mostly built during wartime. The young city is known for its white sanded beaches and beautiful islands.

Sihanouk Ville has Ream National Park, one of the main national parks of Cambodia. It is easily accessible from Sihanoukville town as a day trip, through the islands of Koh Thmei and Koh Ses.

There is no public transport available in Sihanoukville. But the taxis and tuk tuks can easily be found. Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville are connected via the National Road 4, whereas National Highway 3 Connects Sihanoukville with Kampot province and National Highway 48 connects Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh with Koh Kong Province, to the southwest of Cambodia.
